“In the future, there will be no female leaders. There will just be leaders.”
― Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead
The fundamental human rights that were preserved by the United Nations for every person on the planet included the right to: live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn a fair and equal wage. Women’s rights are human rights, although some women and daughters are still denied these rights by simply because of their gender.
Women rights are about changing how societies functions. It involves changing opinions and comprehension, imposing themes in education, modify laws and policies, and encourage participating of men and women in gender issues and have people engaged in social movements. Women’s rights around the world are an indicator of global well-being.
A major global women’s rights pact was ratified by the majority of the world’s nations a few decades ago. Despite many successes in empowering women, numerous issues still exist in all fields of life, ranging from cultural or social issues to political or economy matters. Humanity certainly has a long way to go to achieve universal human or gender equality. (http://www.globalissues.org/article/166/womens-rights)
Olympe de Gouges is perhaps best known as (the) early feminist who demanded that women be given the same rights as men. In her Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen (1791), she is challenging the practice and authority as the notion of male vs female disparity. Executed by guillotine, her fight enters a series of reflections, texts, propositions and actions by women and men around the world questioning the word RIGHTS. Only in late 20th century we reach authorized contraception, in 1975 legalized abortion, and The maternal mortality rate is lowered down, while few countries took legal action against female genital mutilation, etc.
Women issues are gender issue, gender issue are about the body and the life of each one of us-people, able to see, question and create. Creating - is to act and to renovate the realties. There is a responsibility for each to act, directly or indirectly, on perception, and on certainties, thus also to awaken and develop the imaginary, to bring dreams into actuality, to transform words or ideas into actions …Together with you creator and observer, we hope to open new doors for reflection, to change and to question our ways of life and habits, as to understand and perhaps recompose a better world, aiming to value pluralism and diversities as to anticipate the future.
