Mémoire de l'Avenir-Humanities, Arts and Society has been based in Belleville since April 2009.

Mémoire de l'Avenir conceives of its space as a place of interaction between artists, researchers, and the public — a focal point for contemplation and action, dedicated to art and its impact on society.

The organization offers the public contemporary art events — visual arts, video, photography, and installations — complemented by satellite programming such as performances, concerts, screenings, theater, and conferences. Through their sensitive exploration of the world, artists treat creativity as a tool, put forward innovative ideas, give shape to emotions and concepts, and open paths toward reflection and action.

Each exhibition offers a platform for engaging with the pressing issues of our time, working toward a positive shift in mindsets, fostering dialogue that is both intercultural and interdisciplinary, and broadening access to culture and education for all, as well as to peace and ecological awareness.

The works offer no solutions, but rather invite an interrogation of societal issues — whether personal, collective, memorial, political, philosophical, ethical, or aesthetic.

Each event and exhibition stands as an instrument for reflecting on the value of the arts, and bears witness to the impact of artists and their actions across every sphere of life.
